Beautiful?

Once upon a time, little girls didn’t have to worry about how to look “instagram-worthy” 24/7.

Once upon a time, how many digits there are on a scale didn’t matter.

Once upon a time, people saw beauty from within.

Well. I guess society moves forward and changes everything right?

Well, look. There’s this phrase, or quote you might say, that i think doesn’t get enough credit and attention.

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”

Right, what does THAT mean?

It basically means that every person has their OWN definition of beauty.

You may think you look like you just went through a shitload of trouble, died in a hole, and resurrected from the dead. But someone in the room thinks you look like a goddamn angel.

Then again, you may look like you just walked out of a 5 star spa/salon, all ready for a Grammy fitting red carpet. But someone in the room thinks you look like the ugliest thing they’ve ever seen.

And then there are those people whose head you didn’t even turn! You’re just boring to them, not too pretty, not too shabby either.

You see the point is, you can’t expect to please EVERYONE with how you look.

And yet, society’s standards of beauty have made everyone in today’s industry go crazy.

CHILDREN are walking around with full faces of makeup, just so that they can look mature and beautiful, the “standard of a beautiful face”. And even THEN, they are being called childish for following such trend.

People are STARVING themselves just to get the perfect digit for their weight, the “standard of a beautiful body”. And even THEN, they are being called ugly because what they did is being anorexic.

People practically CHANGE WHO THEY ARE just to get that sense of acceptance from society, the “standard of inner beauty”. But even THEN, they are being called fake.

Look, i’m not saying it’s a bad thing to try and be the most beautiful person you can be. But that’s just it!

People are no longer trying to be the most beautiful version of themselves, people are now trying to be more beautiful than another person. And this is a completely wrong perspective you know.

So, how do i PERSONALLY define beauty?

Using all sentences that have already been mentioned, beauty to me is:

  1. In the eyes of the beholder,
  2. Being the most beautiful version of myself.

So how are we gonna break this down? Simple.

We need to understand that because beauty is in the eye of it’s beholder, we know that we can never hope to fulfill EVERYONE’s tastes. So, why not just fulfill yours?

Instead of comparing yourself with other people and their beauty, it’s much better to admire that person’s beauty, compliment it, and then if it matches with your personal style and taste, then try to use it as inspiration and incorporate it into your own.

The difference is, instead of comparing, feeling jealous, and trying so hard to copy that, what you’re doing now is admiring what you like and trying to make that look in your own personal style with your own twist. So not only are you appreciating someone else’s beauty, you also try to find a way to make yourself beautiful like that, but in your own way.

Wouldn’t it be a much better world if people decided to stop spreading rumors, hating, and bringing people down, and instead just spread positivity and compliments?

If people find you attractive after you’ve done this, then congrats! You’ve found someone who truly sees you for you and appreciates you no matter what! And if you come by haters and all those mean crowds, then at least you know that whatever you did, whatever clothes you’re wearing, whatever makeup you have on, is a product of YOU, and you did it to impress YOURSELF. To hell with all those haters gurll,, nobody got time for jerks.

And hey, if you didn’t realise, not only are you doing all this to be beautiful for yourself, it also makes you into the most beautiful version of yourself too! Because now, you KNOW what makes YOU look good, what makes you look HAPPY.

Happiness is radiant. And if that’s not beautiful then i don’t know what is!

So get up, look at a mirror, and ask yourself.

“is the person i see in front of me an image that i created to please me… or society?”

Stay true to who you are, don’t try to be somebody you’re not. Cause frankly, it’s not worth it.

Society and other people are just temporary, sure important, but not THE MOST important.

Yourself, on the other hand, is everything you were, everything you are, and everything you will be. So please YOURSELF and be happy.
